Origami Cantaloupe began with a seed trial in 2004. We spent several years in search of the strongest growing areas and perfecting the soil composition needed to produce this perfect melon. We started with 300 acres, but in order to meet the increasing demand we quickly expanded the Origami growing area to over 60% of our crop in AZ and CA.

Today, Origami cantaloupe is the number one requested melon that Legend produces. The higher pressure and sugars coupled with the greater amount of flesh (due to a thinner rind and smaller seed cavity) make this a perfect melon for processors and retailers alike. Customers have fallen in love with the value they get when they choose Origami.

The long shelf life, PSI, high brix levels, and overall strength of this variety makes transporting and delivering without interrupting the integrity of the product easy.

A strong aroma makes the Origami Cantaloupe an ideal fit for a retail display throughout the domestic season. The bold, sweet scent entices customers who are ready for a change from winter fruits. There is no cantaloupe with more consistent characteristics than the Origami. We have honed our skills – finding the perfect growing locations for this variety throughout the domestic season, allowing us to keep the quality and specifications extremely steady. This consistency has the added benefit of lessening any gap times in production throughout the season.
